General Job Description:


This position is responsible for operating dump trucks to transport materials to various job site locations.    It is also important that you are an organized and safety-minded individual who can interact in a positive and professional manner with a wide variety of customers and coworkers.


Essential Functions/Skills:


  •   Comply with all applicable DOT regulations, traffic laws and Company processes/requirements as they relate to the Hours of Service, Vehicle Maintenance and Drugs and Alcohol
  • Accurately complete Daily Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR), Bill of Ladings, etc.
  • Follow maintenance, fueling and other DOT related processes/procedures
  • Dump/spreads materials as requested per job order
  •  Shovels any remaining materials out of dump bed after delivery as needed
  • Unroll truck tarp to cover loads when required
  • Inspect and secure truck for travel
  • Read/interpret information such as driving routes, safety rules, Bill of Ladings, operating instructions and manuals
  • Participate and submit support documentation such as Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Incident Reports, etc., as required
  • Regularly communicate gauge information, logistical changes, hazards, incidents and relevant information
  •  Maintain contact with supervisor to receive and/or relay information
  • Promptly report all work-related incidents to Company Management
  • Communicate and provide feedback to management regarding operational, safety and maintenance issues
  •  Practice good housekeeping, proper cleanliness and security of assigned vehicle
  • Develop and maintain positive customer relationships employing sound conflict resolution when issues arise
  • Experience driving commercially in the snow required, prefer experience in using chains for snow/ice (Training in chain-up will be provided)
  • Ability to read and interpret documents (instructions, handbooks, operating, maintenance and procedural manuals)
  • Ability to clearly give and receive verbal and written instructions with dispatch, traffic control, other drivers, managers, truck pushers, and anyone else necessary in order to perform the job functions
  • Must be able to learn and retain training and be able to operate all necessary equipment
  • Ability to perform general mechanical tasks related to the CMV.
  • Ability to operate a 10/18 speed manual transmission
  • Good interpersonal, customer service and organizational skills
  • Ability to solve problems, resolve conflicts in a professional manner and maintain a positive attitude at all times
  • Ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with others, to understand highway traffic signs and signals, to respond to official inquiries and to make entries on reports and records
  • Must be able to work overtime and weekends when scheduled
  • Dependable attendance
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

  • Conduct job tasks and transportation activities in a safe, efficient and environmentally cautious manner
  • Follow establish safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties
  • Secure work site, equipment and materials at the end of each shift to ensure public safety and safety of equipment and materials
  • Keep worksite clean and organized free from unnecessary hazards
  • Follow all policies and procedures, with strict attention to safety, per company and client standards
  • Ensure that your truck is in safe operating condition
  •       Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately


Qualifications:


  • Must be 21-years of age or older
  • Current Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
  • Have a safe driving record verified by Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
  • No DWI/DUI violations in a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV)
  • No DWI/DUI convictions within the last five (5) years in Non-CMV
  • Current medical card provided by a medical professional listed on the FMCSA National Registry
  • Must successfully complete a road test operating the type of CMV the Company intends to assign
  • Must successfully complete and pass a DOT urine drug screen, urine 10 panel drug screen and hair follicle test and background


Working Conditions:

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:


Moderate walking, standing, climbing, heavy lifting, carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching and ability to do repetitive tasks. Hand and foot coordination: You must coordinate movements of your hands and feet in order to guide very large trucks in tight places. Operation monitoring: ability to read gauges, dials, and other indicators, and adjust them as necessary. Work outside in all weather conditions and around moving objects, vehicles, and machinery with moving parts. Exposure to dampness and humidity, chemicals, exhaust fumes, gasoline and diesel fuel. Must be able to sit for long periods of time up to 2.5 hours and ability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly, carrying, pushing, pulling, kneeling, bending, twisting, repetitive wrist and hand movements, hearing, seeing (including depth perception and peripheral vision), able to perform rapid mental coordination and mentally alert for the entire regular shift.
